Hi Joe,
You circled the "accept solution" on the pages you sent, but I don't have that option. I only have the kudo's option which I will make sure and always add. You've been a tremendous help.
Since I've owned the machine, there are been a couple of times where I can't get the creo to turn on so I unplug it. I then plug back in and then some vergbiage scrolls on the screen and then it goes black. A two tone alarm goes off and one green light on the creo remains lit. It never gets to the wndows screen. In the past some combination of giving it time and unplugging/plugging will eventually resovle the issure. Any thoughts?
Theoretically you could just plug it in, but...
It runs Windows, anything goes wrong and you don't have the installation media and you are in a bad way, the installation media is also far from cheap, it contains the Fiery software as well as Windows XP and all associated licenses, possibly Adobe Acrobat (If it has the Impose/Compose options.
I don't want you thinking "Joe said this would work", so I want to be clear, while it may work, it just as likely won't, and if anything goes wrong and you don't have the CD's to rebuild it, you likely won't be able to get them anywhere, definitely not free. And it is a very old PC, things will die, and Windows XP is really not secure in today's world, so if it runs, make sure it is not able to reach the Internet.
Kudos (thumb up) and Accept as Solution is at the bottom right of every single post.
Hello again,
I'm always a little concerned that the creo is going to go out on me and I want to be prepared for the worst.
I'm thinking of buying this,
http://www.ebay.com/itm/132110190800?ul_noapp=true
Would I need a CD or anything or could i just plug in. Any thoughts?
Also, I always want to press "accept solution" but don't see what you are referring to.
thanks!
right.
You are the best! So that will only delelte the jobs and nothing else right?
There is a tool to do it, jobs are encrypted for securtity reasons so you can't find them (hidden)
At the Creo go to Start > CXxxx > CXxxx Tools > Format image Disks > OK > OK > Yes > OK
Directions are taken from a DC260, so wording may be slightly changed, but the end-game is the same, if the jobs were correupted, you may have to boot Windows into Safe Mode , but only do that if it won't work without doing it.
I have another question for you and thank you in advance!
The person who owned the creo/printer before me never delated any jobs out of the storage window. Recently, out of the blue, all of the jobs in the storage disappeared. This is fine by me because the creo needs the space. I believe the underlying jobs are still in the computer and would like to delete them. Do you know what the extension would be and where they would be stored? Thanks, Mike
Any time, I'm on here most weekdays and answer whatever I can.
And I am decently old school so I actually worked with the DC250 and all of it's RIPS "back in the day"
I can't tell you how much I appreciate all of you help!
At that point it would just be a copier.
But:
You could replace the creo with another one (Same model)
But the far better bet, would be to purchase a compatable Fiery, either bustled (Box that attaches to printer) or External (Full Windows PC that hooks to the printer with a kb, monitor and mouse)
They can be found online, but to be fair, it is a 15 year old computer, so it will have issues, it will be slow, and it will be expensive.
At this moment fo rinstance, there is one on eBay USA for $1000
