Hi John,
First try to power the machine whithout HDD. If will not boot, replace the HDD and if still not work this mean you have a Main Board defective.

Hi Gabi
I inserted the USB into the drive but the screen on my 4265 is green and I can't get to any options.
What do you suggest?
John
My 4265 is doing the same thing as what you posted. What did you do to fix it?
Hi,
As you said, the 4265 does not support Altboot method. So use the metod below:
Load the firmware onto a USB thumbdrive.
Connect the USB thumbdrive to the standard thumbdrive port on the side of the machine.
Select Print from USB.
From the displayed list, navigate to the relevant firmware file. Select the firmware file.
Select Add. The firmware file will be added to the print list.
Select Done. The print list will be displayed.
Select the firmware file to be downloaded to the machine. Press OK or the Start key or to send the firmware file to the machine.

Hi Danny464,
Thank you for using the forum. If the drive is blank, there is no Operating System to boot into. You would need contact a technician to do an Altboot. Please consider contacting your local support centre.
My workcentre 4265 has been rebooting non-stop for the past week and after reading the forums I think it might be the hard drive. The problem is I dont know the proper procedure to install a new HDD on a WC4265 since it does not support altboot. I tried getting the new hdd and formatting it on my pc as GUID and NTFS. I tried installing it completely blank and installing it with the firmware installed ( which is an .hd file) but nothing seems to work. When I install it completely blank and then connect it to my pc the WC4265 seems to write some files on the hdd so it does seem to be detecting it. If anyone could tell me how to do a clean install without using altboot I would really appreciate it. Thanks in advance!
