Thank you for this information. Unfortunately this is useless for me becuase my unit experiences high pitched coil whine in all power states.
Please advise the approximate lead time for a replacement LVPS PWBA module for my 6515 printer in the UK. This will help inform my next steps.
I have the same issue, it's been annoying me since I bought it last month, serial number: 3941820424, when can I get it fixed? Thanks.
I bought one unit which had coil whine, returned to the supplier and recived a replacement unit. Same problem, called Xerox and an engineer came next day and fixed it.
So FYI: The replacement had the same coil whine as the original, so to avoid voiding the warranty I definitely didn't disassemble it and probe all the electronics to narrow down the coild whine to part no. (on PCB) T431, nor did I somehow relate that to Part no. 105K31091 (LVPS PWBA 220V (SCC)). The 110V part is 105K31091. Those are basically the power supply boards in the printer. These were changed out by Xerox in late 2019 and we received the newer, "more efficient" updated versions that have coil whine. They used cheapo custom transformers (custom TDK winding), that are no good. In short, we got the hairy balls rubbish versions, so call up Xerox and get an on-site replacement. They have them instock, they are rolling them out now, I've got one, so do it.
Took delivery today (18th May 2020). Immediate high pitched annoying whistling sound. Can see this is an issue for lots of peopoe. Can't see where to register my machine to ensure I get this fixed. Informed the printer company I bought it through.
The way I've dealt with it is to turn it off!
Manufactured Feb 2020
@md2 - are you in the UK? If so, who did you call to get a replacement? Is the part swapped out, or the whole printer?
I've just taken delivery (18th May) of a 6515dni and am also suffering the loud coil whine!
I'm in the UK. Call 0370 900 5501 and they should be able to schedule an engineer visit. They need to swap out part no. 105K31091 (LVPS PWBA 220V (SCC)), replacing it with the previous version of that part that doesn't have coil whine.
You first have to register the printer with Xerox, which you can try online. That didn't work for me and it took several emails with the vendor and Xerox to get it registered so I could then arrange the engineer visit.
Update on my coil whine issue.
I've now spoken with 3 different Xerox engineers. The first one (on the 20th May) was aware of the issue and told me the part required to resolve the issue (a new power supply) wasn't yet available. The power supply could be swapped anyway, and it would be potluck as to whether the new part was also in the faulty batch. I was told a different engineer would attend the following day. They didn't.
Yesterday (26th) I received a call from a different engineer. This engineer was not aware of the problem (or indeed my case as they thought it was a jamming issue). I signposted this engineer back to the first for confirmation of the issue/resolution. Was told they would check to see if the part was in stock and then visit, either the same day, or today.
Later on, yesterday I received yet another call, this time from a third different engineer. They said the part to resolve the issue was not available and had no lead time to report either.
So now I have no idea when my printer might be fixed! I’d be interested to know if anyone else has actually had their coil whine resolved, and if so, was it the mysterious new part, or potluck with an older part from an unaffected batch that provided the fix?
See my earlier posts.
It's transformer T431 on the low voltage power supply, part no. 105K31091 (LVPS PWBA 220V (SCC)).
You must persist with Xerox support and get that LVPS replaced, or simply return the printer to the vendor and purchase one from some other manufacturer.
Mine is still not resolved.
Numerous calls and chats to XEROX support asking for an update on my existing repair case.
In the last call they told me that the engineer should contact me withing half an hour after the call but no contact ot date.
Frustrating is that I cannot call the service directly and every time I want an updat need to go thrugh main customer service.
My new printer still noisy as hell, switched off for the most of the days due to irritating noise and I keep using my old RICOH one.
Should have gone with HP one.
