Just wanted to add I'm having the exact same issue with a WorkCentre 6515 purchased today.

Re: Insupportable high-pitch noise in WC 6515DNI sleep mode

I bought the WorkCentre 6515 just 5 weeks ago for my home office.

From Day #1 it suffers from this horrible coil whine when on standby/powersave.

Due to Covid19 lockdown I can't even get to the store to replace it, and the family has to suffer this high pitch, teeth breaking sound.

Re: Insupportable high-pitch noise in WC 6515DNI sleep mode

Hello Folks,

i bought a brand new Xerox Workcentre 6515 on 2. April 2020 here in Germany and have the same issue.

Serial is 3941848973

I would like to contact the Xerox support after Easter Vacation about repair / replace, because the noise is very disturbing.

Ive checked my firmware version. Its the last Version you ca get from the Xerox support site.

I hope there will be a remedial action soon.

Best regards Michael

Re: Insupportable high-pitch noise in WC 6515DNI sleep mode

I've just bought this printer and have the same issue, it's like a very noisy cricket!  The issue appears to be the switched mode psu oscillating when there's no load.  I'd like to get this printer replaced, but I'm wondering if I'll end up with another one with the same issue.

Sorry guys, but this can honestly not be the right way to handle this major issue?

Re: Insupportable high-pitch noise in WC 6515DNI sleep mode

So, for now, the only option I could come with (which is actually working) is using crontab for running a script every minute, which sends an empty pdf document for printing and instanteneously cancels the job... Not very elegant though. If I could simply put bigger numbers to the sleep timer field (like 10000 minutes), that would also make the job.

Insupportable high-pitch noise in WC 6515DNI sleep mode

Product Name: WorkCentre 6515
Operating System: macOS 10.15 Catalina

I just bought a new Xerox WorkCentre 6515. Everything works great, but one thing drives me nuts: as soon as the machine enters the sleep mode, the power supply starts to emit annoying high-pitch noise (about 11kHz & 19kHz, even measured it). The supply socket is well grounded, no problem there, seems like a nasty bas in the electonics of the power supply. I tried to disable the sleeping mode completely by changing NVM 700-131 from 1 to 0, but, unfortunately, the system prohibits any modification of this NVM. Another option would be to wake it up every minute with a script. Does anybody know a terminal command, which would wake the printer up by addressing its IP address on the network?

What other options do I have, except for the replacement? Thanks in advance
