Re: Issue AltaLink C8055 - "There are no apps configured to support USB Drive functionality&quo

Hi Dan X,

Thank you for using the Support Forum. It looks like you still do not have the current firmware installed.  Please install the latest Firmware from Nov. 2018. After you upgrade make sure you check that the USB is enabled and configured properly.  Please consider contacting your support centre for further assistance.

Thanks,

Issue AltaLink C8055 - "There are no apps configured to support USB Drive functionality"

Product Name: AltaLink C8030 / C8035 / C8045 / C8055 / C8070 Color Multifunction Printer
Operating System: Windows 7 x64

Hi there,

We have an "issue" with our AltaLink C8055 MFP.

I will try to explain the issue and configuration as best as I can, but let me know if I can add any additional information.

Issue as I see it:

  1. Print from USB and Scan to USB are enabled (Print_USB, Scan_USB - attached).
  2. Home screen default apps under Apps>Display contains the required applications for USB functionality (HomeScreenDisplay - attached).
  3. Because of our management requirements, not all the users have access to all the applications. Because of that, I created individual user accounts from Login/Permissions/Accounting > Device User Database.
  4. Only these users have access to the USB for example. The default home screen of the printer contains only the applications presented in HomeScreen_beforelogin which is attached.
  5. This was achieved by allowing only the  logged in users to view the other applications (UserDatabase_1, UserDatabase_2 attached).
  6. After the user logs in, and inserts the USB, the error message appears - HomeScreen_afterlogin_and_USB_In attached. The other applications can be seen in the background.
  7. After the message is closed, USB apps recognize the USB stick and everything works. Examples attached - USBworking1, USBworking2.
  8. As a side note, we had the same settings on the old Xerox printer (7845 if I remember correctly) and it worked just fine.

I made the firmware upgrade (Firmware_version - attached), but the issue still occurs.

The USB Connection Mode is on Softaware Tools and ports are enabled under USB Port Security.

No fault for that time via Device > Notifications > Fault History.

This is not an issue for me, but we have some non-technical persons which cannot understand that the pop-up doesn’t mean that the USB is not working so they just constantly complain about the error. So my question is, what is causing the error message to pop-up since the apps are configured to work with the USB and how can I remove this message?
