Hi Kari,
SNMP is what we normally think of for this but this is an Apple OS, so we have to think differently. You might find the information in the forum post below useful. Ignore the part about Windows servers just focus on what engineering says about bi-directional communication in macOS.
Hi,
we have a WorkCentre 7830, with 075.010.020.20500 firmware (but the problem existed also with previous versions). It's in a simple network with just an iMac (10.14.6).
We noticed that when it goes in energy-saving mode after just a minute it wakes up as if it has to print something. If we detach LAN cable from iMac the printers stays correctly in energy saving mode...
I've tried to disable SNMP feature from MFP but still there's something that makes it wake up constantly. Is there any other feature I may disable to avoid this?
Thank you
Kari
