Thank you for using the Xerox forum.
It seems that this issue is dragging along and I am sorry you are having these issues.
You may consider contacting our specific product support experts by phone at the following link:

They can help you walk through the process and ensure your printer works correctly. You can reference this forum thread using the title (My Xerox Phaser 6500 let me print in colour from the settings) because it seems that someone on that team has helped you here and they may have created a support record.
I deleted it and downloaded a new driver from the link you set me. But now I don't know how to configure the ports, and all things it asks to set-up, you did not tell me how to go about doing that.
You would go into control panel and then printers. select the 6500 and delete but Check and document the printer properties so you can have them when you reinstall new printer from the same location.
I would suggest you download a new driver from this product support site. which will depend on your pc operating system.
How is the printer connected USB or Network? Sometimes print queues become corrupt and can get stuck in black and white only mode. Have you tried deleting the printer, rebooting and then reinstalling? Have you tried resetting the defaults for each tab in both printer properties and printing preferences?
If the product is still under warrantee I would recommend calling in for a quicker resolution.
What driver version are you using? You can check the driver version by going to printing preferences/advanced and selecting the about button.
