Hello greenplanet,
This weird address is a APIPA address. This happens when the ddevice is not able to obtain an ip from the network. In your case, from I assume is your router.
You can force the use of an ip address, by setting up static ip or manually assigned, it should work. Just make sure you use ip that is not in use yet.
The gateway can be setup as 192.168.1.1, which is your router
On my xerox, when I set the IP Adress to Auto, it gets a wierd sequence such as 169.254.x.x
Previously, when my xerox was working correctly, I recall that the IP Address was 192.168.1.30 .
I am trying to set up the network setup once again.
If I manually type the ip address to 192.168.1.30, the Network Mask should be 255.255.255.0 right?
I do not know what to type into the Gateway address though. When accessing my router, I type 192.168.1.1 to access the settings.
So it should be these settings right:
Get IP Address: Panel
IP Address: 192.168.1.30
Network Mask: 255.255.255.0
Gateway Address: ???
Since it is connected via Ethernet, should I set it to Auto? or 100Base Full?
