Who knows, but I have never ever seen a printer or driver whereby I've had to change the settings in so many places and what's been set in one location isn't carrying through to the other locations where it is the same setting and should be automatically recognised.  Sounded like the support guy was doing back to back calls on these Xerox 6510's for the same issue so something is not right with them. Also the fact it can work fine one day and not the next, for all devices PC, airprint would suggest it is the printer not storing or holding the settings correctly.

Anyway let's hope the settings hold and this works permanently.

So, everything is about setting, but everybody blames printers.

Having just spoken through with printerland support have got it working, but will see if the settings hold for more than a day.

Have had to edit the settings in 5 places, two of which should have been changing the same setting but didn't.

1.  Set Tray 1 on the printer to A4
   Admin Menu > Printer Settings > PaperSizeSettings > Tray 1> *A4
2. Set the Paper tray priority
    Admin Menu > Printer Settings > PaperTrayPriority> Tray 1> Priority:1
3. On PC set the advanced preferences to A4:Set the advanced preferences to A4 again elsewhere (Should have worked on step 3 but doesn't):

5. Set the device settings for bothTtray 1 and bypass tray to A4:

OK and apply everything. Good luck.

Having tried printing from multiple devices, laptop, iPhone that worked fine one day and then not the next without any setting changing I am convinced it’s a fault with the actual printer.

You should check in Printing Preferences paper selections to be setup on A4

It's worked intermittently a few times but once it starts asking for a letter, it wont stop, and won't even print a document it printed absolutely fine the day before. Bought through a legitimate retailer. Been going wrong since day one. Using Xerox paper.  This is very dissapointing Xerox.

Hi Teddie,

Sorry to hear, i wasn't able to do a weblogin. I called Xerox, the repair was at least € 300, the printer new €200. I bought a Brother to replace the Xerox, no problem with papersize .

Same issue. Mine has A4 set as the default but when I try and print from Tray 1 it keeps asking for a 8.5x11 letter size. Using the bypass tray seems to work.
