Re: Phaser 6510 - Paper size issues (a4) and jams

Jump to solution

Hello! This post was very helpful to me. I am using Windows 10 and a brand-new Phaser 6510. I needed to change every possible windows device setting to A4. Changing the settings in the physical printer menu interface did nothing. The windows device settings override the physical printer settings on the machine. Hope this helps.

Regards,

Mike

I have the same problem, but when I print from a Win10 PC with a Dutch installation it is working fine (my private PC). When I print from a PC with a USA Win10 installation it crashes every time (my work laptop).

When i print from a tablet or mobile phone it is also working fine, so only the USA Win10 installation crashes because it thinks it has to be printed on letter 8,5 x 11" format.

It is probably a setting in windows, but I can't find it.

Hmm - my printer does not have the setting you suggest i.e.

Admin menu

Currently it's running on a USB connection. On reading the manual, it would appear that I can only get to 'Admin' via an ethernet connection and make changes via the web with the printer's TCP/IP number....all slightly above my understanding but might get an ethernet cable and give it a try.

the only help I can be is from my previous comment where my printer was defaulting to the letter size, i went to this menu on the printer itself.

Admin menu -> Printer settings -> PaperSizeSettings -> Tray 1 -> change it to A4 here

You could try and temporarily change it to what you want it to be (300mm x 450mm) and see if that works.

I don't think it sounds like a driver issue to me but I'm no expert. I don't know how old your mac is but have you looked into the Patched Sur app, which allows you to upgrade to Big Sur on some unsupported/older macs. Here's a youtube link for you to take a look and see if it will work for you, then at least you can download the latest driver and rule that out.

Also you could also try and create a new user on your mac, set up the printer from scratch and see if you still have the same problems? I think this is the end of my knowledge/experience on this now :-) hope you get it working.

Yes, I've put in a custom size (300mm x 450mm to do booklet printing) on the printer which it recognises in Tray 1 but when I ask it to print (specifically from Tray 1 too) it still says 'Resources required' and asks for 8"x11" the wrong way round....Why does it default to this size? Is there a driver update that I'm missing or is the driver (4.17.1) for using with a more recent OS? I'm on Apple OS X El Capitan 10.11.6 and it won't upgrade.

Have you tried changing the settings on the actual printer? I found nothing worked from the computer side and found that the printer itself was defaulting to the strange paper size. ??

Re: Phaser 7800 paper size issues

So, I've a similar issue on my Phaser 7800 which since I updated the drivers (4.17.1) won't let me print (from Tray 1) on my custom size paper of 300mm x 450mm in booklet form as it keeps telling me to load paper 8' x 11' or 224mm x 299mm the wrong way round. I did get it to print on A3 but it won't let me choose the Custom size now as it seems to have deleted Xerox features in the print dialogue box

Nothing I seem to do will work. It worked OK with the old drivers. The machine has allowed me to put in the custom size and recognises it in the tray management but when asked to print it goes to 'Resources required' asking for the other set-up.

It's getting very frustrating. Are there newer drivers or can I revert to the old ones easily. I did try deleting the printer and try to re-install the older drivers that can on disc with the machine but I'm not really sure how to properly delete the 4.17.1 driver and re-install the old one. Help please.

Re: Phaser 6510 - Paper size issues (a4) and jams

I have fixed the problem by going into the tray 1 settings on the printer itself and found that tray 1 was set to size "8.5 x 11 letter" so I changed it to A4 and it is working fine now. This is where I went on the printer itself

Admin menu -> Printer settings -> PaperSizeSettings -> Tray 1 -> change it to A4 here

I hope this helps, Also I am on a mac if that also helps others diagnose their issue

Hi Carlos

That is exactly what was happening for me.  I can just say check you've done all those locations, even when it feels like you are doing the same thing twice.

The only other setting I changed was on the printer set the admin > printersettings > duringloading option to no attribute change so it doesn't try and reset itself when the tray is opened and closed.

Good luck

The setting you are talking about is the first printer setup. We all did that! stll the printer keeps asking for Letter format when is is set to A4
