thnx for this info
Finally got the printer up and running, just wanted to post my fix in case anyone else has the same issue:
First, disable the following protocols from the printer control panel: LPR, IPP, and EtherTalk.
Leave port 9100 and SSDP on.
**We do not use any service related to the other protocols, so this may not be a winning solution for everyone depending on your office setup**
Since doing this, Centreware is consistently accessable and speedy. More importantly, the printer can be rebooted with the Ethernet cable plugged in. No more annoying mid-reboot shutdowns, thankfully.
As a side note, I also addressed security issues by disabling SNMP and FTP through Centreware. No problems on reboot.
Hope this helps anyone else out there ready to go "Office Space" on their machine.
Fabio,
Thanks for confirming my suspicions. I have an 8560mfp, firmware version OS 8.62 / PS 4.9.10 / Net 42.22.01.05.2012. Strangely enough, the release notes say that this update will correct network issues with CentreWare IS/ not being able to reboot while connected, but there is zero improvement since installing.
I'm also considering a port issue at this point - We may have had previous ports shut off prior to the NVRAM reset, but by default are turned on since? Unfortunately I'm running out of ideas :) Any input you have would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks again!
yes, there are some network releated issues in the general firmware
what type of machine do you have ? an 8560 or 8560mfp? please also post your firmware level?
To breifly summarize - similar to a previous poster, I had a certificate issue with CentreWare IS and followed advice found on Xerox's site to reset NVRAM.. after doing so, system repeatedly rebooted, until the Ethernet cable was removed.
Now, as long as the Ethernet cable is removed prior to reboot, or CentreWare IS is turned off in the Connections Menu, the printer will start up normally.
After reboot, I can plug the ethernet back in and ping the printer fine. However; printing to it as a network device no longer works, and Centreware IS no longer loads when the IP is entered into a browser.
I perused both the official site and forums hoping to find an aswer, but have had no luck thus far. At this point I suspect the NIC itself is having an issue, or perhaps there is an error with the firmware. Has anyone else had this issue? If so, how was it resolved?
Thanks
