It is a Connectkey device so the Firmwares all match at the beginning and final numbers.

Currently they all start with 072 and end 14201.

071 is Connectkey 1.0

072 is Connectkey 1.5

073 is Connectkey 2.0 (currently in testing and will be released soonish)

The 14201 release for the 8700/8900 is here

Thanks for the info. I figured it was something in the firmware and how it works with the ever changing Java. I was just hoping it wouldnt have to upgrade all 43 of my machines :)

The changes in Firmware are because of changes in Java.

The Remote control panel uses java, and when Java increases security restrictions in its software, it breaks Xerox's ability to connect to the printer remote, so then Xerox has to redevelope the code to enable it to work.

But Java updates very quickly, and Web browsers are less and less likely to work with it.

Chrome doesn't use it at all now

Firefox works occasionally

Long story short, any answer I could give today would likely be negated within 3 months by a change in Java, or in the way the Web browser of your choice handles or allows Java to be used.

As for your current newest 05000 revision, there is a newer one ending with .14201. The 2 versions you list are for the Colorqube 930x, so the link to the absolute latest is here.

Remote Control Panel does not work after Java update
Special Instructions
Java v8u25 no longer allows “Medium” level security. In many cases the Java Control Panel will need to have exceptions added for the remote UI to work properly even with this release installed.
1. In Control Panel on the PC choose Java.
2. Click on the Security tab.
3. Click the button for Edit Site List.
4. In the Exception Site List click the Add button.
5. Enter the address of the device, for example https://123.123.123.123 and press “Enter” to commit the entry to the table
6. When finished entering your exceptions click the “OK” button
7. Click “OK” to exit the Java Control Panel

Remote control panel problem

Jump to solution
Product Name: Other - specify product in post

As of recently i have been unable to connect to the remote control panel on any of our printers except for 1.

I never had an issue before and every machine that had the required firmware version i was able to connect without issue.

Is this a firmware flaw on the Xerox end? The only reason i ask is because the 1 machine that does work with remote control panel is the latest and great SPAR release that a tech installed when the hard drived failed.

The firmware version that is currently working with remote control panel is: 072.180.145.05000

Firmware versions such as 072.180.004.09101 (the newest available firmware on xerox website) does not work with remote control panel.

When i attempted to connect it continuously switches back and forth from these two screens and never successfully connects.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Remote control panel is a huge help for me becuase we have multiple buildings that are miles apart and hoping that software upgrade isnt the only solution.
