Hello Nelix,
The printer reads a chip that is in the toner cartridge. So the very first cartridge that is installed in the machine tells the printer if you have a sold or metered cartridge. The conversion kit basiclly removes this information, and restores the printer back to being blank. What the kit consist of, I do have that information. You would need to speak with the support department.
SOLD/ Regular - You own this machine. No Contract
Metered " - Cost per Copy, Renting Machine.
Hello Nelix,
You would need to call into the support department at 1-800-821-2797, for a toner conversion kit.
Hi All
I have aquired a WorkCentre 7830 during the clear out of a retail unit that has stood empty for 2-3 years. The machine would not boot fully and appeared to be in a boot loop, after some diagnosis I managed to confirm that the hard drive had failed so I installed a new Drive and installed the firmware vie USB. All appears to be great. I have no consumables (Toner/Drums) other than a partly used Cyan toner, but I do have waste cartridge. After connecting to the network and correcting the date/time, the device now asks me to enter a new Service Plan code and informs me that the Cyan toner cartridge is disabled (I'll have to check the exact message).
I'm assuming that this is due to the previous retail outlet having a Plan in place and this has expired, I am also assuming that given the duration that this retailer has been closed that the machine has been written off by the supplier...... if it was leased, might have been purchased, I don't know.
Is there any way I can use this without a Service Plan in place. I am not a business and this device is overkill for my uses but its a nice machine to have and I do like the option to print A3. My usage would probably be less than 10 pages per month over a year so taking out a service plan would not be financially viable.
Hope someone can point me in the right direction.
Regards
