Hi,
correct AutoIP would be a feature to look at..
Have you considered about using IP reservation on DHCP?
Hello csgoik,
on which printer models are experience the problem?
We have 1,000+ Xerox printers deployed across the company. In the last six months, we have added DynamicArpInspection/DHCP Snooping features to our LAN switches. All printers are setup for DHCP. but only Xerox printers exhibit the behavior of "loosing the network connection".
The xero printers (any 0000.aa mac) reach their DHCP lease duration and rather than submit a DHCP Request they issue a Reservation instead. This triggers DAI to deny the connection, thus the printer is offline until its manually rebooted.
A workaround (besides having our users power cycle at-will) is to set the printer DHCP scope for unlimited duration (infinite lease). With the number of printers involved this is an administrative nightmare. Configuring the printer switchport as Trusted also is not an option per Security standards.
Most of the printers have the factory firmware installed. Has this DHCP "bug" been identified? Is it fixed in a newer firmware?
