@zbot ???? Xerox fixed it a year ago by switching it to HTML5, just update the firmware on the printer.
And the 53XX never had it and never will, so there is also nothing there to "fix".
Xerox doesn't use Java anymore because of that issue, they kept changing Java and it kept breaking the RCP, so now they use HTML5 and the issue is gone.
So update to this firmware and the control panel will begin working.
I too am unable to access the remote control panel on a WC7970. It states that I need to download Java which I have already done. It works on the machine down the hall from it though. I was told that it might be newer firmware installed.
The remote control panel only exists in Connectkey and AltaLink devices. It cannot be added to any other device

Thank you for using the Support Forum. Please take a look at these steps to make to Java to get the Remote Control Panel to display. If Using Java Version 7, Lower the Security Level. If Using Java Version 8 Add Exceptions
NOTE: This solution only applies if running Java version 7 or 8 on your computer.
NOTE: Administrator permissions are required to perform this solution. If necessary, contact your System Administrator for additional assistance.
Java made changes to their security settings that may cause issues with opening the Remote Control Panel feature within CentreWare Internet Services. To resolve this problem, follow the steps below to adjust the security settings for Java version 7 or 8 depending on the version installed on your computer.
To find the Java version installed on the computer:
1. Click on the Start button.
2. Click on Control Panel.
3. Click on Programs.
4. Locate and click on Java in the list displayed. The Java Control Panel window will be displayed.
5. Locate the Java version. It may be necessary to click on the About button.
6. Close the window.
7. Follow the appropriate steps below, depending on the Java version installed.
If Running Java Version 7, Lower the Security Level
1. Click on the Start button.
2. Click on Control Panel.
3. Click on Programs.
4. Locate and click on Java in the list displayed. The Java Control Panel window will be displayed.
5. Click on the Security tab.
6. Reduce the security level to High.
7. If prompted, accept and acknowledge the security warning pop-up window.
8. Click on OK.
9. Close the window.
To add an exception to Java:
1. Click on the Start button.
2. Click on Control Panel.
3. Click on Programs.
4. Locate and click on Java in the list displayed. The Java Control Panel window will be displayed.
5. Click on the Security tab.
6. Click on the Edit Site List button. The Exception Site List window will be displayed.
7. Click on the Add button.
8. Enter the printer's IP Address, and then press Enter. For example: https://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx where xxx represents the printer's IP Address.
9. If necessary, repeat step h for any other printers that should be added to the exception table.
10. Click on OK.
11. Click on OK again to exit the Java Control Panel window.
