Updating Xerox 7845 Firmware Question

When doing an update inside of the same Firmware family no data will be lost. What that means is, on this device.

If the firmware you have and the one you are upgrading to both start with either 071, or 072 or soon enough 073, an update can be done and no data would be lost.

But if you have one that starts with 071, and are going to update to 072, it can be done without data loss, but I, and 2nd level support, will highly suggest not doing so, in that case a tech should be paged for what is called an "Altboot no data backup no clone" which will entirely wipe the device, everything would then need to be set up manually from scratch.

For locations with multiple machines of the same type, you would totally wipe one of them and setup manually. Then when completed, do all the others to the same level as the first and then clone the one done first on to the others. (In that case it would be same machine with same firmware which is fine)

The reason for this is multiple, but essentially those first 3 digits identify the version. In the case of newer Connectkey devices you have Connectkey 1.0 = 071.xxx.xxx.xxxxx

Connectkey 1.5 = 072.xxx.xxx.xxxxx

Connectkey 2.0 = 073.xxx.xxx.xxxxx (These version have not been released yet, no ETA known at this time)

I am about to update our office Xerox Workstation for the first time. Whenever I do this, will all settings and the Address Book save and carry onto the next version or will we have to readd everything? If so, is there a way to backup the settings so we can quickly get everything working again?
