Newer routers often have the ability to remember which IP address was assigned to which computer, so if they disconnect and reconnect their IP doesn’t change. Often, though, a router reset will wipe this cache and start assigning IPs on a first-come, first-served basis. Tons of older routers don’t even have this ability, and immediately assign new IP addresses. With IP addresses changing, you have to reconfigure your port forwarding settings often, otherwise you may lose the ability to connect to your home computers.

My guess would be that you are running the printer on an AT&T U-Verse connection. (They disallow static)

This would also happen if it has a Fiery attached though, in that case it would need to be DHCP on the copier, the Fiery would be static, because if not, the Fiery logo cannot be populated to the Services Home screen.

If none of these scenarios fit, try updating the firmware , and if that fails call Xerox 2nd level, but they will likely require it be altbooted (Complete data loss will occur) because your issue is not known to exist, and with the huge amount of this model sold, that makes it much more likely to be an environmental variable.

Why would I have to switch from static to dhcp allow it to pull a new IP then switch it back to the old one set back to static  everytime the printer goes in / out of energy saver mode or the buidling loses power? Shouldn't it keep the same IP regardless
