Why Can't the Firmware Update Utility find a Device on the Network Using Port 9100?

Product Name: WorkCentre 6515
Operating System: Windows 10 x64

My church recently purchased this device via Amazon. During the initial setup, the device's firmware had to be updated via USB.

Today, the device is displaying a "Remote Services Error (016-426) notification --> requiring a firmware upgrade.

However, (1) although the device can be pinged from the Windows workstation, and (2) port 9100 is enabled on the connectivity page of the device's configuration, the firmware update utility is unable to locate the device on the network. The device's firmware can only be updated using a USB port.

Is the USB port the only option for updating the WorkCentre 6515DN firmware?

Please take a look at this article for updating the firmware it can be done with either a ethernet or USB connection.
