Wi-Fi network key not saved

Product Name: Xerox B205 Multifunction Printer
Operating System: macOS 10.14 - Mojave

I can enter the Wi-Fi network key (password) for my Broadband service and print remotely. During setup I did get the message that key was 'Saved'. But when the printer sleeps it no longer retains the key. Surely I don't need to enter the password key each time I turn on/wake the printer?
