Re: WorkCentre 3215 keeps changing IP address. How to stop this from happening?

Ok, some more info here. It seems that my Linksys E2500 (N600) router periodically drops its connectivity for about 30 seconds and then reconnects. Once or twice a week it seems. When it does my Xerox 3215 looses its connectivety too but then it fails to reconnect. I then find it nescessary to connect it via USB cable to reset its wireless setting including resetting it to static IP mode.  Of interest is that I also have a different brand wireless color laser printer that is unaffected by by these sporadic router resets. Only the Xerox is affected.

So it seems that the cause of my problem is my router. But why does my Xerox printer loose its settings each time and how can I prevent it from doing so? Is the answer in some type of router setting? That is the answer I need.

Well it did it again. Switched back to DHCP status by itself again. Had to do the USB connection setup again and then reset it back to Static IP address status. Getting a little frustrated by having do do this almost weekly now.

Hi Joe.  Well it switched IP addresses on me again. I have it set as you instructed to a static IP address and all seemed well with it. Today I had to use the USB connection and the Easy Wireless Setup to reconnect and reconfigure the machine to our network. Any idea what is causing this? I checked the machine's status and it is indeed set to static mode. No changes had been made to our network.

Thanks!

It can't change it unless it is set to DHCP, which would mean when you reboot it , it asks your router for an IP address, and your router supplies it with a different one.

So eliminate that by setting it up with a Static IP address.

Procedure

Enter a Static IP Address:

  1. Press the Machine Status button on the Control Panel.
  2. Press the up/down arrows to select Network and press OK.
  3. Enter the Administrator Password using the alphanumerical keypad. The default is 1111.
  4. Press the OK button; the Network Settings menu displays.
  5. Press the up/down arrows to select TCP/IP(IPv4); press OK.
  6. Press the up/down arrows to select Static; press OK.
  7. Press the up/down arrows to select IPv4 Address; press OK.
  8. Enter the IP Address using the alphanumerical keypad; press OK.
  9. Enter details for Subnet Mask using the alphanumerical keypad; press OK.
  10. Enter details for Gateway using the alphanumerical keypad; press OK.
  11. The Saved screen will display and return to the Network menu.

DNS Configuration:

  1. From the Network menu, press the up/down arrows to select TCP/IP(IPv4); press OK.
  2. Press the up/down arrows to select Static; press OK.
  3. Press the up/down arrows to select Primary DNS; press OK.
  4. Enter details for Primary DNS using the alphanumerical keypad; press OK. The Saved screen will display and return to the Static menu.
  5. Press the up/down arrows to select Secondary DNS; press OK.
  6. Enter details for Secondary DNS using the alphanumerical keypad; press OK. The Saved screen will display and return to the Network menu.

WorkCentre 3215 keeps changing IP address. How to stop this from happening?

Jump to solution
Product Name: WorkCentre 3215

Every day or two I find that I can't access my 3215 from Easy Print Manager (ESP) nor from the Centreware Internet Services due to the printer's IP address changing for some unknown reason. To get ESP working I need to reconnect my PC to the printer via USB each time to reset it. This can't be right. Can I reconfigure ESP from my laptop to get it to work without using a USB cable? I tried but see no option to do it. I have Windows 10. Why does the IP address of the printer keep changing and what can I do to stop it from doing so?

I'm new to Xerox so please bear with me.
