I have a Xerox WorkCentre 6505 that won't get past a 116-317 error message. All it tells me is to restart the printer, which I have done multiple times. I have even left it unplugged for at least 10-15 minutes with no change. From what I have been able to find online is that it could possibly be an ESS ROM issue, but that was for a different mode. Does anyone know what this error means for sure? I was also wondering that since this is on longer under warranty, is it even worth fixing it?

Thank you for using the Support Forum. I gathered the following information from our support team regarding your questions.
The error code is in reference to the optional memory card. This issue can arise if you have installed the optional memory card or installed a third part RAM. Reseating and then replacing the memory card are the only troubleshooting options.
If that doesn't work you may need to replace memory card. Retail price on the memory DIMM can run around $850. If the main board needs to be replaced you could be looking at around $370 plus labor. The contract for this machine is ~$100.00 a year.
I hope this helps you in making an informed decision.

You mention it could be your main board that needs replacement. I recommend that you contact support to discuss. They can then assist you with ordering any parts you might need.
