Depends on the setup, there are Fiery rips that connect via crossover cable and nothing else, and there are Fiery rips that connect via SCSI cable and Crossover cable. In the latter case, you point the Fiery to the real network (yours) and set the copier to the 2nd NIC on the Fiery rip[ that the crossover goes to, which makes it both the gateway and the DNS server.

The attached pdf is step by step for a 560 family device, for the C60 or C75 you set the IP on the copier to DHCP/Autonet and not static, but the DNS and everything else stays the same.

Xerox with Fiery - Smart eSolution

Hello,

what about Xerox printers with Fiery server and Smart eSolution?

How can we make them communicate with Xerox Remote Services?

We set up Fiery server correctly with all network settings required (no proxy) for Internet communication and checked DNS but I cannot understand how the printer can transmit correctly to Xerox when there's a Fiery server. I mean, if it was connected directly to network there would be no problem but what settings we have to use in this case?

Do we have to set DNS also for the printer or does it use the Fiery server as a bridge?

Thank you

Regards

Karina
