Xexrox Workcentre 3045 IP changed

Hi,

I have Xerox Workcentre 3045 and I am connecting it to my DSL connection through IP. Yesterday, I find that the printer got conflict in IP and its IP changed, since then I cannot print because my Mac computers do not see the printer IP.

How can I solve this problem and get configure the printer IP?

Thanks for your help.

Re: Xexrox Workcentre 3045 IP changed

Heya!

If the machine is getting an valid IP-address.

You can solve this problem by installing the printer manually on the MAC, and putting in the correct IP-address.

To do this firstly remove the printer in your printer queue by right clicking on it and selecting remove.

After this go to the plus-sign in the left-bottom corner, and choose IP at the top tabs in the new window.

Punch in the correct IP-address in printer name/address

In job queue write LP

and on Print using select the correct driver for the machine.

This should resolve your problem.

Thanks!

Re: Xexrox Workcentre 3045 IP changed

Hi,

Thank you so much for your reply. When I choose Auto IP in the printer, I got it set as following:

Auto IP

IP: 169.254.248.171

Mask: 255.255.0.0

Gateway: 169.254.248.171

When I add the IP to my Mac printers and try to print, I got the following error:

Connecting to printer...

Network host '169.254.248.171' is busy; will retry in 10 seconds

Also, when I try to access the printer web interface by typing the IP in the browser, it does not work.

I really appreciate if you can help in this.

Thanks,

Rafiq

Re: Xexrox Workcentre 3045 IP changed

Hey!

Can you ping the printer from the MAC?
if you open the terminal and write "Ping 169.254.248.171" and see if you get any response?
Do you know what IP-address other pcs/printers have on the network that have a valid IP-address?

I believe that the printer may not get the correct IP-address from the router.

Thanks!

And when I check for my Mac IP, it is : 192.168.1.101

And My other Mac IP is: 192.168.1.100

As you can see it i different from the printer IP. How can I fix this?

Thanks,

Re: Xexrox Workcentre 3045 IP changed

Hey!

If you usually get the IP-address automatically from the router, check that the printer is properly connected.
If everythings seems correct and it still does not work, try changing the printer ip to "Static" and punch in an IP-address manually that is not being used. should look like : 192.168.1.XXX something.

Also the correct gateway and netmask.

After that, try to ping the printer again.

Thanks!

Re: Xexrox Workcentre 3045 IP changed

Hi,

In the printer IPv4 setting I do not see Static. I only see Auto, DHCP, Panel and other options. Can you guide me how to set static IP for the printer. Also I do not know which the correct Mask and gateway that I should use?

I am having Linksys router

Thanks for help!!

Re: Xexrox Workcentre 3045 IP changed

Hey!

Ah okey, the setting is DHCP turning this off will set the machine to static, sorry for not mention that.

When it comes to which settings you should use you can actually see this on the mac.

If you go to System Preferences -> Network and select the network you use you will be able to see IP-Address, Netmask and Gateway etc.

Thanks!

Re: Xexrox Workcentre 3045 IP changed

I can see the setting in the mac preferences. But when i set the printer to DHCP, it sets the IP and other options to zero and it is not edtiable and I cannot edit it to the setting similar to the Mac. Any suggestions?

Re: Xexrox Workcentre 3045 IP changed

Hey!

DHCP should be turned off, not the other way around.

The printer should have the same gateway, and netmask as the mac.

The IP-Address cannot be the same, though you only have to change the latest part

192.168.1.xxx etc.

Thanks!
