Re: access to Web Interface: SSL_ERROR_NO_CYPHER_OVERLAP (FF) ERR_SSL_VERSION_OR_CIPHER_MISMATCH (Ed

Even if I set in FF on the about:config the
security.tls.version.min to 2 (to allow TLS v1.2)
and put the IP in
security.tls.insecure_fallback_hosts
to allow old cyphers for this IP, it won't work. Most likely those very insecure ones are not included in the build any longer, as Mozilla is stating
[...]
0x00,0x3D - AES256-SHA256
[...]
- Take a hard look at your infrastructure needs before using this configuration; it is intended for special use cases only
- If possible, use this configuration only for endpoints that require it, segregating it from other traffic
- SSLv3 has been disabled entirely, ending support for older Windows XP SP2 clients. Users requiring support for Windows XP SP2 may use previous versions of this configuration, with the caveat that SSLv3 is no longer safe to use
- This configuration requires custom builds to work with modern versions of OpenSSL, using enable-ssl3, enable-ssl3-method, enable-deprecated, and enable-weak-ssl-ciphers
- Most ciphers that are not clearly broken and dangerous to use are supported

Any chance to get a connection to the web interface?

Re: access to Web Interface: SSL_ERROR_NO_CYPHER_OVERLAP (FF) ERR_SSL_VERSION_OR_CIPHER_MISMATCH (Ed

sslscan delivers

SSL/TLS Protocols:
SSLv2 disabled
SSLv3 disabled
TLSv1.0 disabled
TLSv1.1 disabled
TLSv1.2 enabled
TLSv1.3 disabled

Supported Server Cipher(s):
Preferred TLSv1.2 256 bits AES256-SHA256

Will try to re-activate that old one again for testing purpose

access to Web Interface: SSL_ERROR_NO_CYPHER_OVERLAP (FF) ERR_SSL_VERSION_OR_CIPHER_MISMATCH (Edge)

Product Name: WorkCentre 6605
Operating System: Not Specified

Hi,

got a used WorkCentre 6605DN for my home office in germany and it works via configuration directly on the printer itself. I managed also to integrate it in my home network and I can print and scan in basic ways. But any access to the web interface via the IP or hostname of the printer fails. I even don't get any login prompt or similar, the connection isn't established at all. If a point my brwoser to the IP of the printer,

- Firefox reports SSL_ERROR_NO_CYPHER_OVERLAP

- Edge an ERR_SSL_VERSION_OR_CIPHER_MISMATCH

- Android just a general error

The latest available update (from 2016) is on the device.

Is there any chance to use the web interface of this old device with an actual system? Most likely the integrated webserver uses very old TLS and/or Cyphers. But could you let me know which ones I maybe need and if those could be (re-)activated in modern OS/browser? As I need to access the web interface not often, I would enable older security only once and afterwards block it again to have e.g. banking or other sensitive logins not compromised.

Best,

Hans
