It worked! I couldn't find another response that worked, but taking out the toner cartridge and putting it back in worked!!
I too have an unrequested "Remote Scanner in Progress" on a C315 machine, UK telephone support couldn't solve it either. I'm using Windows 11. I'm about ready to return the printer.

I bought the B225 about a month ago and have 2 issues of concern.
1. From time to time the message "reinstall missing or unresponsive imaging unit" appears. I found via a google search that one needs to remove and reinsert the toner cartridge. Is this correct, it seems that there might be a design fault that leads to this message appearing. Any additional advice will be gratefully received.
2. Randomly, the machine comes out of sleep and a message appears "remote scanning in operation" even when no scan has been requested and the connected computer is asleep. Can anyone suggest a fix, it is rather annoying when the scanner starts working at 3am
