7545 registering incorrect finisher type

Jump to solution

Greetings all!

We have 2 7545's and 1 7535. One of the 7545's (5 tray bypass with Xerox Professional Finisher) is an off lease with 200k impressions on it and it's super clean. However there is one perplexing issue I am running into, which is that it thinks it has a offsetting catch tray instead of a professional finisher. The mystery even gets deeper....

The onboard configuration report reads for hardware (it says it has an advanced finisher):

Fax Card:Not Present
Extended Fax Card:Not Present
Fax Card Memory Size:0MB
Foreign Interface Card:Not Present
Net Controller RAM:2048MB
Net Controller Disk Size:used=4231MB/total=160041MB
Finisher Type:Xerox Advanced Finisher
Finisher Punch:None
Finisher FolderNot Present

However, when going to the IP address of the machine and pulling up that configuration report it reads the following (now it says it has an ofsetting catch tray):

Fax Card:Not Present
Extended Fax Card:Not Present
Fax Card Memory Size:0MB
Foreign Interface Card:Not Present
Net Controller RAM:2048MB
Net Controller Disk Size:used=4231MB/total=160041MB
Finisher Type:Offsetting Catch Tray
Finisher Punch:Not Present
Finisher FolderNot Present

So when you pull up the driver to attempt to use the finisher, it is default and locked as an ofsetting catch tray. When I use the WSD port that allows me to override the drivers settings and set it to use a professional finisher etc etc, I attempt to print a booklet, and the printer prints an error that reads "The job was deleted because the client requested a printing function that is not available on the system".

I am pretty stumped at this point, I assume that someone messed around with the NVM chains, however I did a full initialize, then I even wrote NVM 616-014 to 2 and reset the whole machine, still the same settings after getting the machine set back up.

Any help would be much appreciated!

Since you know how to get in to set NVM settings, if you also know how to do a Forced Altboot, I would highly suggest doing so with the latest firmware located here.

Thanks! I will try that right now. I did not see that there was a new October Firmware as well so that's good news!

I will let you know if this works.

So unfortunately, after the Alt Boot and the new firmware. Still exactly the same as before. Any ideas?

I'm asking around, Hardware issues are way out of my wheelhouse (as it were)

Only guy I have found who thinks he could fix it is doing the "Send a tech to do a "forced altboot for finisher""

Obviously this is something that would force the finisher rom to be the correct one, but I do not know the method of doing so. He knows a Forced Altboot was done and failed so I assume it is speciific to the Finsher.

Thanks! I am willing to try anything at this point. Do you know how I can get ahold of him or are you waiting to hear something back?

Basically, if you have a Service contract, page a tech. If you don't, it will get expensive real quick.

I am sourcing through Xerox internal channels, I cannot give out confidential information, and in this case, I really don't actually know the information needed. Just that it exists, which means the guy who knows the way, is not allowed to tell the way.

Long story shortened.

If I knew, and I told you, not only would I lose my job, it just might rain down fire and scorch the earth.

I am still inquiring, but don't get too hopeful.

Hi Joe, I completely understand. We do not have a service contract with Xerox with we do with a third party, but because Xerox does not support the 7545 anymore, we are kind of S.O.L.

Let me know if you find anything.

If the machine config sheet shows that it has an A/P finisher then the machine is seeing it like it should. If the driver isnt recognizing it then the problem is the driver not the machine.

That's the confusing thing.... As you know there's two onboard config sheets. One is printing the config from the machine itself. And the other is accessing the machine over IP and seeing the config there. The onboard shows the A/P Finisher, but accessing the machine through IP shows offsetting catch tray.
