Seriously! I really don't expect to find a "Paper Jam" case labelled "Paper wadded up in the waste tray"! :-)
(Sure enough! Nothing there! :-) )
In any case, it's now fixed. From another forum ( http://www.fixyourownprinter.com/ ) I received enough information (i.e., get the Service Manual) as well as the encouragement to take this beast apart.
I had to disassemble it down to and including pulling out the print head in order to get to the bin where the waste tray is located.
What a mess was there! The wadded up page blocked the path for the waste ink to get to the waste tray, and all of the solidified ink was all over everything in the bottom of the printer. Over an hour of vacuuming and poking with various "tools" to break up the ink and I got out all I could see.
After reassembly, the printer is now working just fine.
