Alright debenllcp-p, let's get that thing working.
First, lets make sure the thing knows the tray is hooked up, do you have it networked? I hope so, if the answer is yes:
Open another tab in the web browser you are currently using to read this and put the IP address of the printer in the address bar to load the built in web page (Centreware internet services)
Right on the opening page it will show you what you have, we need the 525 sheet feeder to show up under the Optional features with a green check mark (This one does not have it)
If it doesn't show up, it probably is not compatible, but just verify you never missed a step here, but realistically, the steps are just:
1. Shut it off , unplug it and go to lunch
2. Sit it on the tray after lunch
3. Plug it in and turn it on
So now when you check CWIS it has the check mark and on the About System page it shows the trays installed (I have no idea what to do if this is not true)
Now, for the driver, typically this stuff is handled by two way communications between copier and printer, the reason it is greyed out where you are looking is because of 1 of 2 reasons:
1. You don't have admin access/driver is shared off another PC.
2. Bi-directional Communication is on and not allowing manual changes.
For the first one, you would need to find the PC sharing the driver and fix it there.
For the second one, assuming the above steps got the tray to show up in CWIS there are 2 options. Remove and reinstall the driver (fresh from Xerox.com), or disable Bi-Directional
Then when you go into the Installable options you can add anything you want, of course jobs will just fail if you choose anything incorrect.
Now, if this does not resolve the problem I am not sure what else I can provide, but feel free to come back with an update and I will dig further and ask some co-workers if they have anything to add, but the circles I run in are software/network geeks, not hardware techs in most cases. But I will try.
Thanks for your reply, Mitch. This is what we have:
Screen shot of Installable Options. Everything is gret and no options are available.
Brand new in the box 525-sheet feeder tray & tray
Instruction sheet clearly shows that this should work for the 8560. What's missing?
Thank you in advance.
Hello debenllcp-p,
Reviewing the options for the 2 printers they may be similar but the site for the Optional tray does not indicate it is compatible
There is no mention of 8400 compatibility on the 097S03667 page but it does show 8500, 8550.
The 8400 pricing page shows
097S03174 | 525 Sheet Feeder, Adjustable Up To Legal, Phaser 8400 Replaced by 097S03667 |
The 8560 pricing page shows
097S03667 | 525 Sheet Feeder, Adjustable Up To Legal, Phaser 8550/8560/8860, RoHS |
097S03702 | Tray, Main, 525 Sheet |

Thank you, CherylO-Xerox.
The Paper Tray is "grey" and does not allow the drop down to work. I tried this but the installable options>Extra trays is "greyed" and does not drop down to add trays.
Does this mean that the printer does not see the tray?
Does this printer have t have a 8560 tray specifically? I was told that the 8400/8500 trays are all the same.
Thank you!
Hi debenllcp-p,
Thank you for using the Support Forum. Please make sure that you have enabled the tray. Go to Devices and Printers and right click on the printer. Select Printer properties, select the Configuration tab and then select installable options. In the Paper tray field make sure the tray is selected and then click on OK and the OK on the properties window. If this does not help please consider contacting your support centre for further assistance.
OK, Day 2 and no Reply. My faith in the support of this format is waivering a bit.
Does anyoneone out the have an 8560DT SIM/Configuration Card to purchase or is willing to provide us with the XXX-XXXX-XX code to guide us what to look for?
Your assistance would sincerely appreciated!
We are trying to add Tray 3 to our 8560DN (1487 pages printed) and the printer doesn recognize that Tray 3 is in position. Already tried restarting the print (twice) but nothing.
Does a new SIMM Card need to be added and if so what is the part number?
Thank you in advance.
