AtlaLink C8055 - cannot change invalid network address

Hi All,

One of my customer did manage somehow to put in an "invalid" static IP address, ending on xxx.xxx.xxx.255

at one of his C8055.

Device is on the last general release, 100.002.057.09609.

Strange enough, he didn't get an error message while applying/saving it.

Now he cannot change it in any way.

Setting the printer to DHCP will still show the dodgy IP.

Putting in another static IP, the old dodgy one will still be there after apply/save the new one.

He did try an altboot without the data backup and also the "Erase all user data" option on the device itself.

Everytime the device has still the dodgy IP address.

We didn't try to upgrade the printer, because if the altboot won't do it, an upgrade

wouldn't be able to fix either, I guess?

Any suggestens how we might be able to get the IP changed?

Thank you in advance,

Wolfgang

Everytime the device has still the dodgy IP address.

That isn't possible if it was a proper successful altboot with no data backup applied.

We didn't try to upgrade the printer, because if the altboot won't do it, an upgrade

wouldn't be able to fix either, I guess? Why not use one of the 7 newer firmwares to do the altboot so you kill 2 birds with one stone? 100.002.018.01610 is current

Add to that, an Network reset should easily cure the problem, Device > Tools > Network Settings > TCP/IP Settings > Reset to Defaults

Re: AtlaLink C8055 - cannot change invalid network address

Hi Joe,

I think you were right about the altboot. I was on travel but got today from the customer a screenshot of the Software Upgrade page of the device:

Upgrade screen.jpg

I remember from the ConnectKey devices, after an altboot, there cannot be any entry in the upgrade page.

Makes sense, since it's a complete wipe of the OS.

I will travel to the customer and do the altboot myself - let's see what I will get.
