Can't install printer and it is driving me crazy

Product Name: Phaser 3330
Operating System: Windows 10

Had a phaser 3330 for some years and it finally died on me.

Bought a replacement, plugged ithe existing usb cable, inserted the cd and thought everything was Ok. Press foir atest print on the machine - no problem. Try to do it via the PC and it does nothing but it shows a DHCP error on the printer. No idea what that is. Have tried deleting and reinstalling but no change.

So I have a brand new printer but can't use it

Any ideas( other than but another brand!) How do I stop/solve this DHCP?

Hello keithnicholls,

I found this article on the Xerox Support page that may help you resolve this issue. If that doesn't work, I would recommend you uninstall and reinstall the Xerox Print Driver.

Thanks,

Re: Can't install printer and it is driving me crazy

I am afraid powering up and down has not resolved the issue. The other article has no information other than the title.

I have deleted and reinstalled several times. Each time I ask to print a test message it gives and error message. Using Windows 10 trouble shooter just says printer cannot talk to computer.
I had a 3320 before and all I have done is connect the existing USB and add printer. The printer will generate a configuration report attached but nothing else. It displays DHCP error whatever that is.
Getting frustrated and desperate not being able to print anything.

No doubt there is a simple error, but I have no idea what it is and without good step by step guidance doubt if I can sort it.

Amongst all the tech brains at XEROX surely one person at least can help this customer resolve the issue and regain faith in XEROX?

Kind regards

Hi,

Fisrt of all you must know what class of IP you have in your network environment. For this open a command promt and type "ipconfig/all" and press Enter. You will have an window like this:

CMD.png

so as per this info if, for exapmle, the computer IP is 192.168.0.165, you must setup your printer IP in the same class of IP's (eg. 192.168.0.166). Of course it will be better to ping that IP (also in a CMD prompt) so that there is no other device with the same IP with the printer network cable unpluged. If there is no answer from other device, you can setup that IP to your printer.

From the System Admin Guide:

1. At the printer control panel, press the Menu button.
2. Navigate to Tools, then press OK.
Note: To access this feature at the control panel, log in as an administrator.
3. Navigate to Setup, then press OK.
4. Navigate to Network Settings, then press OK.
5. Navigate to TCP/IPv4, then press OK.
6. Navigate to Static, then press OK.
7. Navigate to IPv4 Address, then press OK.
8. Using the alphanumeric keypad, enter the IPv4 address, then press OK.

9. Using the alphanumeric keypad, enter the subnet mask, then press OK.
10. Using the alphanumeric keypad, enter the gateway address, then press OK.
11. To return to the Ready screen, press the Menu button
