Cannot get SMTP email to work on new machine

We just received a new Xerox® AltaLink® C8070 to replace our existing WC 7845 device.  I have been going through the settings one by one using the web portal, comparing the 7845 setting and and eidting the new device to match it. Both machines are on our printer vLan.   Everything seems to be working fine, except I cannot get a Test Email ('Text Configuration') to go through successfully... i just keep getting 'Unable to send test Email.  Unable to to connect to remote server'.    

 

Not sure why, did I miss something?  Can I get some advice on things to check/double check?   Thanks- JH

Time/date and DNS.

If the printer is off on time by 3 or more minutes it will fail.

 

And make sure Gateway/Subnet and DNS are the same as they are on the 7845.

 

And while it should not be needed, if the above doesn't work, a firmware update isn't a bad idea.
