I appreciate your help and fast response, but I'm not sure if your solution will work.
I have researched this issue (ink cube information), previous to any problems for several months and have read about the differences in cubes everywhere I can find information. I have tried to purchase different cubes to fully understand the differences. I now have access to the service manuals which explain the specific differences in cubes, in detail. I don't understand WHY the 108R00952 cubes are being rejected or where to find the obsolete 108R00956 cubes. The 108R00952 cubes I tried were from a newly opened box and I also attempted other colors in boxes similarly marked (as "Cartridge-Free ColorQube Ink" -- not "Metered ColorQube Ink").

I know and that's what I was attempting to use -- see "I called Xerox ... I should use 108R00952, which is what I was using." I am already using that and that's when I got "the message"
> You probably need 108R00948 Yellow Metered
That appears to be a "smaller" metered cube for the 85xx models. They might work, but I have an 8880, which accepts the "larger" cubes.
I do have a box of 108R00964 which is labelled as "Metered" for the 8870/8880 series. I also have another box of 108R00964 that is labelled for only the 8870 series. Either of those get the same "replace cube" message -- I just tried a cube from a box that _I_ just opened.
I can't see that using the "smaller" cubes are the solution to this problem.
To help potentially solve this problem, I would like to know what the "letter codes" on the "bottom" are for the 108R00956 (or 108R00954-108R00957 for all 4 colors). This is what the printer is "requesting" via the "Supplies Usage" page.
Thank you.

You probably need 108R00948 Yellow Metered
Problem: Have ColorQube 8880DN. (details at bottom of this post.)
I attempted using 108R00952 ink and it was rejected. The message was "Remove Incorrect Yellow Ink Stick (slot 1). See ink stick packaging for details. Press ?"
So, I decided to print a "Supplies Usage" page to determine the part numbers of what I should be using. It displayed 108R00956.
I called Xerox and they told me that part number is obsolete and that I should use 108R00952, which is what I was using.
When the Xerox representative then told me that the ink cube was defective. I told her that I had also tried other colors with similar results. She stated that my supplies must be defective and transferred me to technical support with a "click".
She did give me the technical support number 800-821-2797 to call and they wanted my serial number, which I gave them several times. He then wondered what country I was from and apparently could not find my serial number. He wanted me to get it from the machine and I asked him what buttons to push and it appeared that he was unfamiliar with the entire ColorQube series (and many other Xerox printers that have the same intuitive button "layout").
He then decided to transfer me to supplies. At that point, I gave up because I was back where I started with time wasted.
So I looked on this forum which was touted several times during the wait for supplies support. I found some novel responses that mentioned similar problems, but no good answer for the 8880 printer.
So, I have no idea what to do next -- I need to put in yellow ink. I doubt the ink is bad, but there must be something I am missing.
Printer background: I have a stellar ColorQube 8880DN printer (under 3,000 pages). I have had it for a few months and have been regularly using it for about a month. It is the best COLOR printer I have seen ever and I finally have one (I first saw the initial models back in the late nineties when Tektronix first created it.) I now have one and I need to add more "ink". I have printed about 1,000 pages and these are NOT 5% pages, but more like 95% pages in full color in PHOTO mode. (I go down to "Enhanced" when using text only since I saw little difference in "body copy" text between Photo and Enhanced.)
