Re: ColorQube 8570 does not accept ink

The printer is very likely a printer from the USA as it was shipped from Amazon.com.

There is no warning anywhere on any website or any publication I know of that Xerox US printers will not work with Xerox inks from Holland or Australia. I am pretty sure there is actually an illegal side to it to sell equipment to any customer without the guarantee it will work. So they sell printers to anyone but are not making sure it is going to work for the customer. Australia is in a free trade agreement with the US so we can buy and sell anything anytime from one country to the other. We dont need silly trade barriers by putting regional restrictions on  printer ink.

There is no way the local Xerox shop in Australia will order US ink just for me ( I asked them) and most if not all US ink shops do not deliver to overseas customers.  The minimum I expect is that Xerox customer support releases software to affected customers which reprograms the rom to accept Australian ink. It is day 3 and no response from  Fuji Xerox customer support .

If you know the origin of the machine you should be able to get the correct ink block for your machine. May be a special order for your local Xerox branch but it can be shipped to you.

Re: ColorQube 8570 does not accept ink

I do have exactely the same problem and live in Australia. I bought the ColorQube via Amazon. It arrived with a set of ink sticks. Last week I ordered in Australia a full set of new ink sticks. The printer rejected the ink. Not quite sure what to think about that I pulled the remains of the original  yellow ink stick out of the machine to compare shape. When I put it back in, it rejected that original ink as well saying I have exceeded the quantity of free ink. What ??????

Called Fuji Xerox customer support...got India on the line. Could only understand every 3rd work, the accent was terrible. I understood that they asked for the invoice and serial number which I sent over. Even though I registered that machines S/N with Xerox they could not find it in their database. Have not heard from them back since, its an absolutely dreadful customer service. I am sitting here with a brand new printer, a pile of new ink and a printer rejecting Australian ink. This is really quite rediculous. We have been using Xerox printers since a long time but this is looking to get really  bad.

Fred, if you can please let me know the workaround you discovered that would be great.

Re: ColorQube 8570 does not accept ink

Hello John,

Thanks for the confirmation.  We already called Xerox Suppport Netherlands, but after recording our contact information, serial number etc., they referred to the local retailer.  The local retailer hasn't answered yet - they probably don't know what to do.  I just hope this won't go from pillar to post...

Re: ColorQube 8570 does not accept ink

Hi Fred,

Looking at the information that you've provided, I understand that your machine is programmed incorrectly.  It is somehow set up as a U.S. machine and needs to be changed to the Netherlands Market Region as you suspected.  To do this change, a Xerox Certified Technician will have to come and change that setting in your ColorQube(s).  The ink sticks that you have already purchased are correct so you can hold on to those.

Looking at the local Netherlands support page for the ColorQube 8570, I think that the contact information for you is as follows:

Voor inlichtingen zijn onze operators beschikbaar van maandag t/m vrijdag van 07.30 tot 17.30 uur.
Tel : 020 6563620

I hope that this information will lead you to the correct place in order for you to schedule a service call to have the correct Market Region programmed for your machines.

John

Re: ColorQube 8570 does not accept ink

> there is a difference in size for eu and usa models... maybe thats the problem you have...

The problem is that the printer thinks it's in North America.  It asks for North American ink.  I don't think there's any difference in hardware - it's some hidden "ink stick region" setting or perhaps the firmware.  There's definately a difference in the ink sticks, but it's not the size ;-)

Xerox support refers to the local shop.  But I bet they can't change this setting.  It's like the DVD region codes.

Until Xerox comes up with a solution I'll have to apply my home brewed workaround just to be able to print.

Re: ColorQube 8570 does not accept ink

Okay, I managed to make the printer accept one additional black ink stick.  So I now can print another couple of days.

But I'd still like to know if the region code in the printer can be fixed.  Thanks!

ColorQube 8570 does not accept ink

Product Name: Other - specify product in post

Bought two ColorQubes 8570, plus additional ink blocks.

Both the printer and the ink were bought at the same store (in The Netherlands).

The printer does not accept the ink, saying it needs a different type.

Ink I have bought is 108R00935, printer asks for 108R00929.

Seems like a region issue.  Is there some way to tell the printer it is actually located in Europe, so that it takes the ink?

Thanks,

Fred
