Xerox sent a technician to fix the problem. He opened it up, wiggled a few wires and thought he had fixed it. Now the printer is saynig the maintenence kit is mission. Someday, maybe I will be able to select the "Accept Solution" as you keep askiing.
Xerox returns and refunds policy information
That sounds like a posbility, but how do I resolve the problem of a malfunctioning printer?
Is there anyone out there listening from Xerox who can help me?
Is this the right place to find help for a defective printer?
Can anyone direct me to the right place to seek help?
Thanks
It is possible the maintenance kit is broken in some way that causes it to not sit properly/move, which would cause the machine to stop feeding paper and indicate a jam as well as display the eriror (If the paper is not in any way damaged this is likely the case).
The reason I mentioned 67 lb. cover in the original post is that the first ColorQube I bought jammed when printing to 67 lb., so I returned it Whereas the first two Phaser solid ink printers I have owned faithfully printed duplex on 67 lb cover all day long for over 100,000 pages printed on each.
I have not even tried to print to anything other then regular paper on this one.
Sorry, in the old days the hashtag # was the abbreviation for pound.
One pack says 67 lb. cover.
another says 67 lb. cover stock - vellum bristol
What do I do about the annoying "maintenance kit missing" message. Do I have to return this printer also?
I used to be a big fan of the solid ink printers since back in the Tektronix days, but these ColorQubes are problematic for me.
It comes up when you search just 8580 though.
What is 67# paper? was that supposed to be 67 Lb (Pound)? If so, what type of stock (Bond,Cover, Text, Bristol etc)?
What are you programming the tray as having in the control panel via the Paper tray setup > Paper tray x Type (X being the number of the tray you put the paper in)
As for the missing maintenance kit, I would assume an issue with a sensor inside, but couldn't be of much help without having the printer in front of me on that one.
Direct link to stock support is here
After 171 pages printed, the printer often jams paper and says "Maintenance Kit Missing." I open the side door, slide the maintenance kit out and slide it back in. After this I might be able to print four or five more pages before it does it again.
I went to the Xerox support page http://www.support.xerox.com/support/enus.html
and entered "ColorQube 8580DN"
The response was "No products match your search."
Maybe this is all just a bad dream!
I owned two other Xerox solid ink printers bfore buying this one. Both of the old ones printed over 100,000 pages.
This is the second ColorQube 8580DN printer I have tried. The first printer jammed on 67# paper from two different paper mills. I returned the printer and have been waiting for a refund for over a month.
I have not even tried to print 67# paper on this one. I have just printed 171 pages with regular paper. It jams too much and indicates the missing maintenance kit.
I tried to find Xerox customer support on the web, but wound up here. Please help.
