I have been tasked to Install the ColorQube 8900 on my work network. The method I used which as worked with other Xerox printers is to connect the printer via USB to the computer nearest to it. Install the printer with all the drivers then simply share the printer. I then go on any other work computer and add the printerthat way. When trying this method with the ColorQube 8900 I'm having around 60% success rate. Some computers will not install the printer and say access denied. I have trawled with the internet and tried every remedy I could find to no success. Has anybody else encountered the same isssue or know of a solution that may work? Any help is greatly appreciated.
I would have to guess the ones that don't work are 32bit OS's and you need to install the 32 bit driver files in the shared printer.
The Windows error itself should help to find the source of the issue
Thanks for your response. I have installed both 32bit and 64bit drivers on the shared printer and still keep getting this access denied error. Annoyingly it doesn't come with an error code so finding info online has been a bit tricky as there our multiple solutions but none have worked for me so far. The strange things is that there is another Xerox printer that is shared from that computer and every computer can connect to it. Could it be a fault with the printer?
If the printer was the problem, nobody could print, the fact that some can means the driver/spooler is the issue, and since the server itself works, it has to be an issue client side.
There are a run of issues recently with Windows 10 and Type 4 drivers caused by a recent update, but since you are listing as Win 7 x64 in your post, that info isn't relevant since you can't be using Type 4 drivers.
I haven't actually checked the spooler as the root of the problem so I will check it out today and see if it fixes the issue.
