Re: Does not register correctly with Opensuse Dynamic DNS

Dynamic DNS (DDNS) is an addition to the DNS standard. Dynamic DNS updates a DNS server with new or changed records for IP addresses without the need for human intervention. This allows a fully qualified domain name (FQDN) that never changes to be associated with a dynamically assigned IP address that can change quite often.

Does not register correctly with Opensuse Dynamic DNS

Product Name: VersaLink C505 Multifunction Printer
Operating System: Linux

I have a new C505, upgraded to the latest firmware. It now communicates with Xerox successfully.

It is set to pick up a fixed IP address from Opensuse 11 DHCP server, that works. It is also set to pick up DNS from DHCP and that works (must because it communicates with the outside world).

However it fails to register its name with the DNS via Dynamic DNS. This is the first device that I have had which fails to do this. I checked that the DDNS is working by resetting the IP addfress on my Windows 10 PC and that worked perfectly.

I have seen posts suggesting that there are problems like this with the versalink firmware. Is there anything that i can do to make it work?
