Here are some things you can try to see if they help fix the problem:
Restart the Printer by turning it off, waiting a minute or two without it being connected to power, and then reconnecting it. If the problem is with the printer's firmware, rebooting it can fix it.
If the printer is unresponsive, doing a factory reset may solve the problem. Remember that this may remove all of your configurations, so make sure you have a backup before continuing. You can generally find instructions on how to perform a factory reset in the printer's manual or on the manufacturer's website.
Help with Xerox Products: In the event that a power cycle and factory reset are unsuccessful, contacting Xerox customer assistance is recommended. Based on the details of your case, they can offer tailored advice. You can contact them using their official channels of customer service, which may include phone, email, and live chat.
Use Service Mode (Advanced Users): Some printers offer a service mode that may allow you to recover from specific firmware difficulties if you are experienced with printer diagnostics and firmware changes. Accessing and utilising service mode can be tricky and may necessitate some familiarity with your model of printer.
If you've exhausted all other options and your printer is still under warranty or you have access to professional repair services, you may want to consider taking it in for repairs.
A "write error 041-500" can indicate a problem during the firmware writing process, and if the printer is unresponsive or "bricked" after the failed upgrade, it can be a challenging situation. Here are a few steps you can try to troubleshoot the issue:
Restart the Printer: Sometimes, a simple restart can help in resolving certain issues. Turn off the printer, unplug it from the power source, wait for a minute, and then plug it back in and turn it on.
Factory Reset: If the printer is unresponsive, you might need to perform a factory reset. Please note that this step will erase all settings, including network settings, so make sure you have these details available.
To perform a factory reset, follow these steps:
Contact Support: If the above steps don't resolve the issue, it's advisable to get in touch with Xerox customer support. They can provide you with specific guidance for your printer model and the error code you're encountering.
USB Firmware Update: In some cases, it might be possible to recover the printer by using a USB drive to perform a firmware update. You'll need to download the correct firmware from Xerox's official website and follow the instructions to create a bootable USB drive with the firmware. Consult the printer's manual or Xerox's support resources for more detailed instructions on this process.
Professional Repair: If all else fails, you might need to consider professional repair or replacement. If your printer is under warranty, Xerox's support should be able to assist you with repair or replacement options.
Always remember to follow the manufacturer's official instructions and recommendations for troubleshooting and updating firmware to avoid voiding warranties or causing further issues. If you're not comfortable performing these steps yourself, seeking assistance from a trained technician is a good idea.cfa home

@TDS wrote:Anyone care to respond to this? I'm having this identical issue after the automated firmware update failed from the control panel. Same exact error.
I attempted to use the Windows firmware utility to install the latest firmware service pack, but it says that "the firmware selected doesn't match with the device" despite it being the correct one.
Hello
Thank you for sharing here well If the software / firmware upgrade fails, a popup message will display on the computer.Access the printer's Embedded Web Server and log in as administrator. For additional information, refer to Access the Printer as a System Administrator. Click System, then Software Update. Check that Software updates are enabled.
Trying to load the 'Bridge' firmware, get through the:
Special Boot Menu, Special Boot Menu 1/3, Download Mode and then Yes to confirmation.
At this point I just get a blue Xerox screen with --BOOT MODE-- at the the top in yellow text. It just sits there forever.
Any new information on the firmware?
Replacing the ESS board and starting up the machine gives a Bootlog error.
Tried doing the software but it gets stuck at 12%. The indication circle stops turning and the stuck stops responding. Tried different sticks and got a 2nd new baord results stay the same. Replacing the old baord machine starts up and works fine.
Any Ideas? This is on the Versalink C7025 followed instructions to the letter on both Problibro and on the Edocs.
