Our PDFs are fine. They print fine on our little Phaser 6280 as well as when we have things printed offset. In fact, depending on the job, we might use the cheap office printer rather than the 550, since, as far as color goes, we get a more accurate product. When the 550 calibration didn't do it, I (and others) also tried to manipulate the Fiery menus, but this approach hasn't been able to fix the problem either. Can you tell me more about the developer approach? How do I do that?

But, if you have a Fiery, why not just just lower the magenta in the in use color profile?

Also, make sure it is also too red when you import the job as a pdf direct into Command Workstation, because if it is fine that way, the issue isn't the printer, its the app, and probably as simple as a dropdown or checkbox. Other issues would be that every blue looks kinda purple, people all get a sunburn and backgrounds are dark

Image Too Magenta

I have had a Color 550 for several years. The color has always been too magenta, or put another way, has a magenta cast to it, or put another way, the magenta is oversaturated. Due to the nature of my work, most of the time I have been able to live with this. I have tried, and others have tried, to calibrate the machine. It's better after calibration, but still not perfect. 

Recently somone said the problem could be easily solved by replacing the magenta developer. He said this is rarely needed, but sometimes. 

Two questions: 
1. Could this solution in any conceivably way make sense?
2. If it could be a solution, I don't see any part numbers or info about changing developer. Is this something that has to be done by an Official Xerox Tech. (I don't currently have a Xerox service contract.)
