Hi andersonjosephine,
Thank you for using the Support Forum. As stated above no it is not compatible with Windows 10.
DC 5000 machine not compatible with Windows 10. This machine is work well with Windows 7.
It will always be on Windows 7.
Xerox doesn't make it, EFI does.
Joe,
Thanks for the quick resposne and the explanation. Makes a little more sense now. Is Xerox working on making the Digital Front End compatable with Windows 10 and also the server software? I guess what I'm really asking is if our print shop is stuck with the Win 7 OS until they upgrade to a newer DC model? Seems a little crazy to me but what do I know. I remember the days of hot type. Thanks for your time in answering.
Best Regards,
Bob
It cannot be used while running Windows 10.
The situation is this:
The computer in question is referred to as a DFE (Digital Front End)
It controls all aspects of printing and runs Windows to run its Server software(Possibly Creo, but Fiery is most likely)
If you were to install Windows 10, it would likely still boot to Windows, but Windows would not be able to get a driver to run the additional hardware for the DFE, it also will not allow the CREO or Fiery software to run at all. Which would mean you would not have a printer anymore, just a copier.
Here is EFI's (makers of Fiery) forum post about the issue
Hello Everybody. I'm not sure if I'm asking the question correctly but I work in IT for a public school system. We are planning to roll out Windows 10 to all computers sometime in the near future. Our print shop manager told me that the computer that is attached to the DC 5000 machine can't be upgraded because a service person told her that it is not compatable with Windows 10. Is this true? I don't know how this computer is connected to the DC 5000 machine or what software is on the computer to run the DC 5000 copier. Can someone explain this to be, in a simple way. Thanks.
