I had the same issue. Brand new out of the box, Drum and Toner cartridges not detected. I called tech support who walked me through some basic troubleshooting which led the phone tech person to arrange for an on-site visit. A tech came and found an "non-replacement" part broken. It was the RJ45 connector for the drum that was broken. Xerox is sending me a new printer. This service is great.
Hi sdee
Thank you for using the Xerox forum.
I would suggest that you review the following site for possible solutions.
You can search for text from the support tab and review the User and system administrator guides from the Documentation tab.
I noticed that the replace drum and toner instructions do not indicate turning off power.
You may try turning off the device then removing the cartridges, turning on the printer and installing them so the machine can determine that they were installed.
If that does not resolve your issue you may consider contacting our specific product support experts for customers in the USA at the following link: Fast Track to the Expert or by phone 1-800-835-6100 U.S. & Canada Mon - Fri 8AM-8PM ET
If you are outside the USA you should contact the local support center in your area which you can find here:

I have a new Xerox 4622, I unpackaged the drum and toner, took off the strips and tabs, installed them into the unit, turned it on for the first time, but comes up Orange with 3 errors; Open Fuser Error, Invalid Drum Cartridge and No Toner, double checked everything was seated properly but cannot get it past this and powered off and on a few times. Called support who are sending out replacements. Secondly, in the admin control panel when prompted for a password, I've tried the one I set on the start up menu and the default admin 1111 but that won't let me login. I've read resetting NVRAM can help. Any advice?
