I have a xerox phaser 4510 that indicates low toner. replaceda new toner and after 3 days it is saying toner low. updated the firmware to no avail. now it is saying please replace cartridge Please any input or advice on how to fix this issue.
thanks
Honestly, it sounds like it might be the toner cartridge and not the device. Call product support at 1-800-835-6100 Option's 1, 1 and provide them with device serial number and describe the problem. They will most likely concur with my diagnosis - that the toner is a dud...
How many pages were printed between the replacement of the cartridge and the replace toner message?
There is a firmware glitch some machine would experience where the page count would increment exponentially, so for example for every 10 pages printed the page count would increment hundreds or sometimes even thousands of pages. This would cause the toner counter to expire even though there is plenty of actual toner left.
If this was the issue you were experiencing (only getting a few pages before "toner low" came back), the firmware update you performed likely resolved the issue, however you may need another new cartridge to reset the counter. Once the CRUM chip on the toner cartridge has been written as end of life, it will not reset even after the firmware update.
what should i do at this point? replaced a new toner?
the printer is out of warranty!! :mansad:
Hello danny,
If possible, you need to load the newest firmware on your machine. Click the link below; that will take you to the Drivers and Downloads page here on Xerox.com/support. On that page you can download the PS 4.11.2 firmware version. This version has the fix for the "Premature Toner Low Message" that you're seeing.
Click here to download the firmware.
danny, I forgot to mention that the toner cartridge that is in your machine right now will continue to display the message that it is low even if it isn't - following the upgrade of your firmware. I think BenjaminG already mentioned that, but I wanted to say it again. After you complete the upgrade to firmware PS 4.11.2, you will need to install a new toner cartridge.
I hope that this resolves your issue. Please post back and let us know how it works out.

do you think it can be sensor issue other than the toner?
also, the exist toner that is in there now is printing light copies. is it a new toner needs to be replaced?
Hello danny,
I'm not so sure it is a sensor issue, no. Were you able to get the newest version of firmware loaded on your machine using the link that I posted the other day? If so, how did the update work?
Do you remember what firmware version was on your machine before all of the trouble started which led you to trying the upgrade in the first place?
Also, if you are able to - can you please print a Start Up page for me and let me know what the total page count is on your machine?
Your light prints may be due to that toner cartridge. Was it a brand new unopened/unused cartridge when you put it in the machine the other day?
