The black dove process has not been used for quite some time.
You commented "Do I need to find a new source for toner? " so I am not sure of the brand you are using.
Xerox wants their devices to provide high print quality but cannot guarantee that when customers use Non-Xerox Supplies.

This has been a workhorse until the last cartridge. Soon after I put it in, the printing got light. its readable but the blacks are dark grays and it just isn't up to snuff. Doesn't matter where the print job comes from. No streaks or glitches, just uniformly faint. There is a setting for toner quantity, default 8 of 15. I set it to 12 and makes no difference. I saw posts about other xerox printers setting themselves into "low toner coverage" mode but those solutions don't seem to apply to this printer.
Do I need to find a new source for toner? Is there something I can reset on this machine to print darker? Is it a white goat or is it a black dove I am supposed to sacrifice in front of the printer? Any suggestions will be appreciated.
