Hi there,
Please let me know if you ever did get resolution on your problem. I have the same issue (colour scans come in blurry (there is a vertical offset)), but no problems printing. (copies have the problem given they rely on the scan engine). Xerox tech support suggested there may be something causing a slight jam in the scan, but given the whole scan system is sealed (i.e. not really repairable) the best solution would be to replace the entire scan system. After speaking with Xerox parts, the part is over $700, more than the cost of buying an entirely new 6180MFP/D, LOL. Really hoping there might be a user-serviceable solution.
Along those same lines - my Phaser 6180 MFP prints fine if printing directly from the computer. HOwever when I make copies there is a blank space in the middle of the paper. If I copy an entire type written page 3 lines in the middle are not there when it prints. Any ideas??
Hello,
We have exactly the same problem. Printing is fine, but scans blurry.
It seems that when the unit is cool, scan quality is a bit better.
Did you happen to find out a solution for this problem?

You can try a NVMreset or event he firmware upgrade, incase it will re-write some nvm values but that is pretty much where my advise ends :(
Maybe would not be a bad idea to have and engineer onsite to have a look at your scanner.
Thanks for the feedback. Your suggestions were related to re-calibrating the color on the printer itself. But, my 6180MFP is priinting excellent, its the copy/scan that isn't working. Almost like the scan unit itself is out of adjustment or misalligned. Below is what a scan of the demo page looks like.. As you can see, the image is blurred and has all these streaks and yellowing everywhere.... If you use the "copy" function, I get a similar looking result.
Do you have any other suggestions? Thanks.l
Hi,
not sure if you mean that this problem only happens on copy jobs or on scan jobs as well.
I am not convinced yet the driver could cause this problem, nevertheless you can filter this info by analysing the behaviour in scan job and a copy job.
Regarding the device firmware I would upgrade to the latest version. On majority of the cases there are more benefits then Cons to have the latest software.
Below are some link you could follow and try to see if it helps.
Good Luck,
Hi. I picked up a Phaser 6180 MFP and installed it on my computer running Windows 7. The printer works excellent, but the copy function produces blurred and unledgeable copies. Could this be related to outdated firmware or incompatible drivers with Windows 7? Or is there a way to calibrate the scanner so it isn't blurry (when you make a copy, you see a double image about 1/8 inch apart and its blurry).
Or am I out of luck and need a new top scanner unit?
