Posting an update.
I followed the instructions here:

Power cycling can happen after a power surge event; usually initiated by an electrical storm or a power outage. If this happens, unplug the printer for at least two hours, and then plug the printer back into a stable power source.
And now it is working again. This is weird, but I am glad that I didn't need to take it to a repair shop.
I bought a Xerox Phaser 6500 a couple yers ago and it suddenly stopped receiving power. I believe this because the power cable works with other devices and the network plug shows no network connectivity. Is there a way to replace the power supply or get it servied?
