I just thought I would interject on this topic since it also happened to me and I have found no resolution for this anywhere. Essentially, once the amber indicator light has finished blinking (give it a few minutes), you can reboot the printer with the power switch. The configuration page will automatically print thus showing the firmware has been upgraded. Only do this if the "downloading 90%" screen shows on the printer and the amber light has completely stopped blinking. The installation process completes but the screen never updates past 90%.
This past friday, I was directed by Xerox support to update my firmware to possibly fix my color alignment issue. I downloaded the most recent firmware from the Phaser 7760 support and drivers page (version 5.2.1). I used the OPE file downloader to send the file to the printer. On the computer side, it appeared to fully send the file. But on the the printer's display, the download progress quickly counted up to 90% then hung there. I waited over an hour then called Xerox tech support who told me that the firmware update sometimes takes hours. I left the printer for the weekend but here on Donday the printer still says Download 90% do not interupt.
What should I do? I do not want to ruin the system by powering it off and on.
I have a Phaser 8550dp and it is stuck on Download 99% for a day now. Was there a easy fix for this issue or Should I contact Xerox Support Team.
Hi fewltu,
Thank you for using the Support Forum. Please contact your support centre for instructions on what to do next.
I was having some printing issues with our Phaser 7760, and decided to install the firmware update to see if it would help. I followed the directions fo installing via centreware, and now my printer has been sitting at "Downloading 90% - Do Not interrupt for over an hour" (the first 80% took less than 5 minutes). What do I do!? I'm scared to turn the printer off and screw up the update. Any help would be appreciated.
