Printer was working fine, but I did not like the fact that the side cover had to be removed so the power cord & ethernet wire could be attached
I figured by removing the second plate at the rear I could keep the side panel attached and have the cables come out the back. I carefully (I thought) disassembled the printer, removed the panel, and reassembled the printer.
Everything looked in order, but now when I power up I get the red light to the left of the LED screen flashing immidiately.
It gives one short burst of flashes, followed by 5 slow flashes twice, then 4 flashes once. This sequence is run over and over.
How bad is the damage?
Hi AugieM,
Thank you for using the Support Forum. Please take a look at the support page for your machine to see if you can find an answer. If you do not find a solution please call support for more information or to place a service call.
CherylO,
Is this the 'official' response from Xerox....check the support page or call support (at a cost)?
I thought this forum was for support (hence the name 'Support Forum'); things to try or real answers/solutions to the problem.
Of course I had already checked the support page before posting here, did a whole web search without any success.
And if I wanted to pay the cost of having a tech talk to me, or come over, I would have done that already too.
I am looking for the answer from a user/tech who had a simialr issue with your product and has an answer.
NOBODY else has had this happen to them??
Any insite would be greatly appreciated.
I just fixed a similar issue on my own machine, Phaser 8550DP. The front panel was blinking red rapidly. The PS and PE leds were flashing rapidly. I reseated the RAM and the system booted.
