This just happened to our several years old 8560. I googled for the service manual ( http://goo.gl/6sHhU ) and it has great documentation for removing the ink loader assembly. I inspected this simple device and found no visible defects or reason for the fault.
The service manual mentions the "Monitor Sensors" test, which I performed and manipulating the ink stick sensors would show changes.
Once reassembled, the fault cleared on its own.
Hi again!
You're welcome, and thats great :)
Good thing it worked out for ya.

Kimzi thanks so much for the great advice!
I ended up ordering a new ink tray assembly from Ebay and we are FIXED~!!!! Wohhoo!!
Hey you!
This is what an engineer would do, hope that helps somewhat:
Initial Actions
• Check that the Ink Sticks are genuine Xerox.
• Check for obstructions in the Ink Wells.
• Check the Ink Loader data (P/J0150) and power (P/J5) connections.
• Verify the Ink Sticks advance in the Ink Loader.
• If the problem persists, follow the procedure below.
Primary Causes
The troubleshooting table lists parts and wiring referenced in the troubleshooting procedure.
NOTE: Following Ink Loader Assembly replacement, or for Ink count flag stuck errors, clear the
Ink Stick Count (ISC) fault using the Clear ISC Fault menu item located in the Service Diagnostics
Function menu.
1 Reseat all Electronics Module connections.
2 Check ground integrity.
Are the system grounds connected?
Reset NVRAM. If the
error persists,
replace the NVRAM
device (REP 5.0.9).
Reconnect the system
grounds.
Replace
Ink Loader Assy, PL 2.0 I/O Board (2/2), Figure 10

Hi Lnijjar,
Thank you for using the Support Forum. Please take a look at the soltuion for clearing the the ink count fault. If this does not help please consider contacting your support centre for further assistance.
Let me start by saying I LOVE my phaser! I've had it for about 7 years now. Until now it's been virtually maintenance free.
Recently I received a message "Add Magenta Ink" ....when I went to do so...i noticed there was ink already in there.
Tried restarting. No good.
Completely disassembled the ink loader tray, free'd it of any debris...put it all back.
ADD MAGENTA INK. Ugh. :smileyfrustrated:
Snooped around the internet and found something about CLEAR ISC... did that. Nothing
No fault codes...just ADD MAGENTA INK!:smileymad:
Could it be I just might need a new ink loader tray?
HELP!
