Re: Printer stuck in startup loop

So...

- Is there a way to factory reset the Phaser 6510 at boot time?
- Is there a service menu available at boot time where print jobs can be deleted or printer can be reset?

Re: Printer stuck in startup loop

I got into exactly the same status today. Keeps rebooting. Firmware 64.73.72 installed.

Re: Printer stuck in startup loop

In one of the rare times that the printer managed to turn on I did a factory reset.
For the moment it manages to start even if a couple of times it had to restart twice, but maybe because I changed some settings.

For those who want to try the reset, remember that the admin password of the web server with the new firmware is the serial number of the printer.

Re: Printer stuck in startup loop

I've found this article regarding boot cycle bug https://howtofix.guide/vulnerability-of-xerox-printers/
The article says that firmware xx.61.23 solved the problem but it's not true in my case.

Re: Printer stuck in startup loop

Yesterday, after firmware update printer booted correctly, I tried several times.
Today boot cycle again...

I think that Xerox should give us an answer and not only "try to replace the power cable". I have a 300€ unusable printer, it's a shame. Next time I will buy an other brand.

Re: Printer stuck in startup loop

I've finally been able to put a power monitor on the printer as it loops.

Supply voltage is 237 ± 0.5V, and a frequency of 49.8Hz, both well within supply standards.

I restarted the printer after it had been off for a couple of weeks, and it booted properly; updated firmware to 64.69.91, which appeared to install properly (no error messages received or displayed), and it is now boot cycling.

Current demand shows some interesting features. most times the current varies between 0.07 and 0.15A, but every 3-4 cycles, it rises rapidly for a few second to a peak of 5A, falls back even more quickly to about 0.8A, then a relay switches off, and the screen goes blank.

Re: Printer stuck in startup loop

Prompted by your reply, I switched on the printer: It started!

I then updated the firmware to 64.69.91, which downloaded to the printer, and appeared to install.

It's now stuck in the boot cycle again.

Re: Printer stuck in startup loop

I don't know how but luckily the printer was able to turn on and I was able to update the firmware.
I'll update the post in a few days and let you know if the problem is solved.

Re: Printer stuck in startup loop

I have the same problem with my printer, suddenly it keeps rebooting for 4/5 times before start a few weeks ago and now it keeps rebooting.

I don't think is a worldwide power issue...

Re: Printer stuck in startup loop

Just realised that I have posted exactly the same problem with the same printer on the forum - no response yet. I've also re-uploaded the firmware, removed network cables, checked my voltage (correct 240.4V), and let it have a rest off the mains. I've also reported it to Xerox customer services. Waiting for a response on all fronts!
