Hi Daniel,

I found this article for that fault code. Hopefully that will help you resolve it.

Re: Problem with yellow toner

The most likely fix for this problem is to take the cartridge out. If it's empty, replace it with a new cartridge. If it still has toner left inside, install it back in the printer, taking care to insert the cartridge properly. Always turn your printer off before attempting to change a cartridge.

Diana

Re: Problem with yellow toner

Hello well_fans,

Do you have a Fault Code? That can help us determine what unit needs to be replaced as there is more than one yellow unit (drum vs. toner) on that device.

Thanks,

Problem with yellow toner

Product Name: VersaLink C405 Color Multifunction Printer
Operating System: Windows 11

I bought a C405 for the house a couple of years ago and its had occassional use over this time, page count is circa 5-600 pages in total, mostly colour photo printing. In the middle of a large print run of 150 photos for a big birthday party it suddenly errored out telling me the yellow toner wasnt installed properly and to remove it and re-install. Tried this over and over, even went and bought new toner cartridge and same issue occurs. Followed the other service steps suggested online of removing and re-inserting the drum and cleaning the laser with the supplied tool. Same problem. So I'm sitting here with a very expensive paperweight and more than slightly disgruntled with Xerox printers as I'd run HP for years and never missed a beat. To set some background I'm an IT manager of more than 20 years with plenty experience of servicing and maintaining printers and copiers. I see lots of others online complaining of this same error and being told to buy new drums etc but seriously a failed drum after 500 pages??? Before I crack and go waste more money on a new drum which I doubt will do anything for this problem has anyone actually got some decent practical advice on the likely cause of this problem.
