I work for a copy shop. For a while we had this problem (we even upgraded to new printers Xerox WorkCentre 7845 but that didn't solve anything) (scenario is in self-service so non-advanced users use this too):
By default be set our printers to print A4. If a client wants to print A3 he needs to set the printer settings.
The options in the default windows picture viewer print dialogue don't transit to the drivers too well - they might select A3 there but the printer still uses A4 in the drivers. So with any application he must got to printer properties dialogue.
The strange thing with the Xerox Global Print driver is that when you make selections in the Paper drop-down menu and you select A3 from there (the very first two options) the result might be A4 sized print on A3 or vice-versa.
The trick is to go to Paper > Other sizes and set both Document size and Paper Output size to A3 manually. (This reveals that after selecting A3 in the first menu you get A4 print size but A3 output size)
However for PDF's if they are set to exactly the right dimensions of A4 or A3 and the you select "Choose Paper source by PDF page size" it works!
This has been pet peeves for us and IT guys for two years. I suspect this started happening after one Windows auto-update.
We use Windows 7 Home Premium for our computers. We tried both PostScript and PCL drivers. Sometimes older ones too.
Any help or ideas appreciated.
